This historical city, located in the heart of the Thar Desert, is also known as the Golden City and is one of the major tourist destinations in the desert state of Rajasthan.

Once a princely state of Rajputana, situated right before the India-Pakistan border, Jaisalmer is an enchanting place with a rich history. Named after the Rajput king Maharawal Jaisal Singh, this royal walled city owes its grandeur to magnificent architecture and marvelous structures. Founded in 1156 AD, the entire city has a golden-yellow hue, earning it the moniker of the Golden City.

The dazzling city was built by the Rajput ruler in a very impressive and stylish manner when they moved the capital from Ludharva to Jaisalmer, considering it a safe region. The whole region is endowed with a magical atmosphere and a plethora of remarkable structures that turn the city into a precious gem in the cultured pearl of Rajasthan. The glorious past and the legacy of brave Rajputs can be seen in every part of the city.

Located in the western part of the vibrant state of Rajasthan amidst the Thar Desert, this city houses one of the oldest forts in India built by the Rajputs, as well as numerous ancient havelis, massive constructions, medieval temples, and much more. The sprawling mansions, charming palaces, sand dunes, and camel safaris make this region exceptionally beautiful and distinct among all other tourist destinations.

In this region, there is even a Jain temple dedicated to Lord Tirthankar Shantinath and Lord Parshvanath, making it a prominent destination for the Jain community. The picturesque location acts as a gateway to the vast Thar Desert and desert camps and camel safaris that will delight travelers embarking on a Jaisalmer tour.
