The historical town of Orchha, located on the banks of the Betwa River, was founded in the 16th century by the Bundela Rajput leader Rudra Pratap. Here, the Betwa River is divided into seven channels, also known as Satdhara. Legend has it that these channels are named in honor of seven former rulers of Orchha.
